I would appreciate it if you could share photos of your ceiling lighting or suggestions here. We are currently planning to install many LED spotlights in or on the ceiling (supported by floor and table lamps), but I am looking for alternatives. So far, I think we will have to forego hanging ceiling lamps because our floor-to-ceiling height is only about 2.47 meters (8 feet 1 inch) net (Hobbit house ;-) ) or similar.

For financial reasons, we have not hired a lighting designer.

@ypg May I ask how big your office is, or could you share the floor plan with the furniture layout? I usually only know desks facing into the room from large ballrooms, which doesn't seem to be the case with you. I really like the idea of being able to look out the window, make good use of the light, and look into the room. I’m thinking about whether that might work for me too.
You’ve touched on a very sensitive topic in our house planning, namely the acceptance of a room that was always just added as an afterthought and therefore has minimal dimensions, making it hard to furnish. It’s already had about four different furniture arrangements (the closet was never moved).

After a "success strategy" from an online seminar (looking into the room while working, tidy desk), the new desk is placed like this and has proven itself for a year now. As you can see, the desk is on casters, so it can be rotated as needed, for example during workouts.

Thank you, @ypg, the idea with the rollers definitely makes it very flexible. Our room in question has a similar layout, with the addition of a sloped ceiling. It was always intended as an office, but in an older building it’s not particularly easy to adapt. I’ll think it over; your setup looks nicely airy, despite accommodating so many different things.

@Pinkiponk

Thanks for your question. I’ve had similar thoughts myself, especially because there is a pendant lamp centered in the living room. On the ground floor, the ceiling height is about 2.45m (8 feet), and I’m only 1.7m (5 feet 7 inches) tall, but I still find the lamp in the living room a bit too low. Just recently, while playing Ring Fit Adventure in front of the TV, I had to be really careful not to knock the lamp down…
