Hello everyone,

What options do you see for a stormproof patio roof that can be partially opened in winter (for example, sliding)? The roof should provide shade in summer (so a glass roof is not necessary) and let through as much light as possible in winter.

Is there a manufacturer for such roofs?

May I ask which sail you are using? For example, there are significant price differences...

You can choose from many suppliers online. They all custom cut to size, and fabrics can be selected based on quality, features, and color. Then you can have stainless steel posts fabricated locally by a metalworker.
If you install it yourself, the current price for a 4 x 4 m (13 x 13 ft) sail should be around ±1,000 € (euros).
We had such a sail at the previous house. I can share a photo if you want.

The best option remains the louvered roof.

Is that advertising or what?

No advertising, but currently the best sun protection available on the market.

Friends of ours have a pergola awning.
A fixed frame on two supports with a fabric awning that can be extended or retracted along a track.
It looks modern and can be quickly retracted in case of storm, snow, or similar conditions.

Our terrace faces south. Therefore, the awning would probably be extended almost all the time during the summer. So I wonder if there might be alternative options.

I also have a question: How often is a glass roof usually cleaned?
I think louvered roofs are more expensive.
