Hello everyone,
Could this be asbestos in the basement? I mean the floor covering. It is slowly coming loose from the edges. The house was built in 1972, and I assume the floor is original.
Can I leave it as it is?
Best regards,
Basti

Hello Basti,
Your question has already been answered. Due to the year the building was constructed, it could contain asbestos—but only an analysis can confirm this.
As long as the flooring is not subject to mechanical wear, there should be no issues.

What I can see here is a PVC floor covering that, as shown in photo 1, either completely detached from the leveling compound due to a cohesion failure when it was lifted, or (more likely) was so poorly glued at the time that staining liquids were able to get underneath the covering.
Without going into detailed specifics (which I could do, but it would be quite extensive), the suspicion of asbestos is so remote that it should not be taken seriously.
Those who do not believe this are, of course, free to commission a proper analysis.
Cost approximately €70 per sample.
