Hello everyone, sorry for my poor German. My wife and I have just purchased a plot of land and plan to start building in early 2022. The problem is that the property cost more than we expected and has used up part of our budget for the house. My question is, is it possible to build a 160 m2 (1,722 sq ft) house with a budget of 350,000, including construction costs and everything that comes with it? Thanks in advance.

My plan was to have all the offers from the various companies checked professionally.
Have you already found someone for this review service? I gave up at the time and decided to have my house built by a local contractor.

It means that if you truly spent as much time as you claim researching all the different aspects of building a house, you could spend your money more efficiently and compensate for any lack of expertise by actively participating in this forum. 🙂

Probably that he wouldn't place too much trust in them

By "Hebel / Ytong / Silka" I mean the main competitor to Ytong, who also offer prefabricated houses;
by "there are other levers than do-it-yourself walls" I’m referring to planning and design details such as hip roofs, bay windows, corner windows, and similar features. Or, if you build your house in the very back corner, you could pave your driveway with banknotes. Dozens of smaller factors add up to larger amounts that cannot be balanced out by a DIY mason’s wage.

Oh, that goes down like oil with me—in the translation, my rambling sounds like Shakespeare ;-)

Yes, prefab house expert

The prefab house experts probably are not limited to timber frame construction, but in my opinion, they are generally not specialized in solid masonry house kits (?)

Ask other homeowners about their experiences. You need a partner offering good value for money. Lower equipment standards with good workmanship.
Whether a local carpentry company, a small solid construction builder, or a nationwide timber frame manufacturer does not matter.

I understand your point and partly agree, but some things are better left to the professionals. I assume you have built before and have seen a detailed scope of work and a construction contract; such documents should be reviewed by an expert. Comparing five quotes costs only 300 euros. Trying to save money in the wrong places can be very risky and expensive, much like with this COVID situation.
