Hello everyone,
I have an IKEA KALLAX shelving unit that I mainly use in the living area. Unfortunately, one of the compartments has recently warped, causing the doors not to close properly and affecting the overall appearance. I have tried several times to adjust the angle of the warp, but the gap remains.
My question to you is: What really helps to prevent or fix warping in a KALLAX shelf unit in the long term? Are there any practical tips or workarounds beyond the usual readjusting? I appreciate any experiences and solution-focused advice, as I would like to solve this problem permanently without having to take the entire unit apart.

Here’s a small tip from me: When you replace the back panel, you can also add small washers between the back panel and the shelf frame – this prevents the back panel from being too tight and warping the cabinet.
That’s exactly the important point, otherwise the whole shelf will work against itself.
And hey – don’t give up, your KALLAX can become really sturdy if you do it right! 🙂

As long as the back panel isn’t significantly thicker than the original, it should fit well.
