How can future modernization costs be estimated when buying a house, specifically for a terrace of about 40m2 (430 sq ft) and a complete renovation of a bathroom of approximately 10–12m2 (110–130 sq ft)?
For the terrace, new flooring needs to be installed, and the terrace entrance, which is through the living room, consists of a full glass wall. The bathroom requires new tiling, as well as the purchase and installation of a modern shower enclosure and washbasin (plumbing).
Are there any general rules of thumb or standard estimates for assessing such investment costs?
Good luck.

I would estimate 15,000 for the bathroom.
A large bathtub already costs around 2,500, and a shower about 1,500... The washbasin is similar. Then tiles and quality fixtures. All a good average, mid-price range.
For the terrace, it depends on what is already there: Can the base floor be kept and built upon? Or should it be wooden decking or ceramic tiles laid in a mortar bed?

The glass facade is located between the terrace and the living room. There are larger wear marks both at the bottom, top, and on the sides (at the "hinges" or whatever the correct term is). On the right side of the glass facade, there is a sliding glass door that opens left and right, serving as the entrance to the terrace.
As mentioned before, the entire glass facade and the terrace floor tiles need to be replaced/modernized. As a non-professional, I have no idea how to estimate the costs at all.
What do you think?
Could the bathroom really be that expensive? I mean, it is only at least 8m² (86 sq ft), at most 10m² (108 sq ft).

Well, the bathroom has already been discussed. It won’t be much cheaper than my estimate; this is already the budget version. If you handle the plumbing normally, Yvonne’s estimate is probably more realistic.
The glass front could also be called a floor-to-ceiling window and sliding door, so it’s clear what is meant :-)
Honestly, I can’t estimate from personal experience, but it definitely won’t be cheap—I think an additional 5,000€ (about 5,500 USD) is likely.
I only estimated the terrace work.
Apart from the bathroom, I’d say it’s doable but not necessary.
Especially for the windows and door, I’d first check if they are reasonably airtight and if they still function properly. If that’s the case, no one is forcing you to replace them right away. The aluminum itself doesn’t break down; a new seal for the door and a thorough cleaning should keep them working for a few more years.
The tiles are similar. Of course, you wouldn’t install such tiles today, but they are laid properly and functional. I don’t see any limitations there, other than aesthetics.
