Hello,

we are interested in a house where you have to pay 17.95 € per month for the metering service contract for the smart meter. Is this price reasonable?

Is it also possible to buy a meter yourself at a low cost and use it?

Hello

We have decided against renting and opted for buying instead. Of course, you have to pay a large sum upfront. However, this cost pays off relatively quickly. For us, it is about 3.5 years.

May I ask how much that cost?

We will be living in a homeowners association. Will the association or the property manager have any objections? Could they prohibit it?

If a maintenance contract for the entire building has been signed and runs for x years, it cannot be changed overnight. Basically, the property manager only does what the condominium owners’ association (HOA) has agreed upon, unless they have been granted some discretionary powers by the HOA within a certain scope.

Therefore, I would ask the property manager if you are allowed to purchase the device.

I agree with Dirk! For us, it was easier because there are two apartments in one house. Since we were both owners, we were in agreement. In your case, the "neutral" billing will also have an impact.

Ok, thanks for the information. I will try to obtain the condominium bylaws or something similar in advance. Thanks!
