BookstarHello forum members,
I’m interested in how you handle the maintenance of your equipment. I had my heating engineer install everything and signed a maintenance contract. However, I’m starting to feel ripped off, since the work involved isn’t very extensive and I end up paying a total of 500 euros each year (without materials).
Air source heat pump, central ventilation and exhaust system, water softener.
Who takes care of this for you, and how much do you pay? Since the warranty on my heating system will expire soon, I’m considering doing the maintenance myself in the future.
Good luck

Our plumbing and heating company didn’t want to offer us this service because they are located far away.
So, we found a local one. He said: We don’t do maintenance contracts. You just remember to call once a year, shortly before the heating season. That’s how we have been doing it for 5 years. Since my husband handles the payments and also manages the taxes, I don’t have the exact price, but it’s around 160€ (about $170) for the gas heating. We are satisfied.
We don’t have descaling. The controlled residential ventilation system requires no maintenance (we handle the filters ourselves).

Most of these devices are largely maintenance-free. You can change the filters yourself, and does the heat pump really need servicing? I have no idea about the descaling system, though.Ventilation mainly cleaning:
Clean device
Clean heat exchanger
Clean preheating coil
Clean condensate drain
Water softening:
Maintenance according to manufacturer instructions, replacement of wear parts kit
Heat pump:
Check valves, check expansion vessel, check circulation pump, check filter

To keep track of all these maintenance intervals, I use MaintenancePlanner (iOS). Heat pump, controlled ventilation system, water softening – everything is entered once with the respective intervals, then reminders are sent automatically.
Especially useful: cost tracking (how much did the last heating maintenance cost?) and PDF export for documentation.
