Stefan2.8416 Sep 2021 15:19Hello, after about three quarters of a year, I finally received the offer for a maintenance contract for our heating system. It is an air-to-water heat pump. What is the general opinion in this forum regarding an annual maintenance contract, and what is the usual cost and what services should be included? The offer is now from the company that installed the heating system on behalf of the general contractor. Are there also options to inquire directly with the manufacturer?
Thank you and best regards

Hello,
I have a Novelan heat pump. According to the maintenance contract from Novelan, the service costs nearly 400€ (about 430 USD). You can choose between annual or biennial maintenance.
When an installer came for the final inspection, I asked him what exactly is serviced on a supposedly low-maintenance heat pump, considering that this costs three times as much as the maintenance for my parents’ oil heating system. His answer was that he doesn’t really know either. You can perform visual inspections and check the error memory. Any other malfunctions are noticeable through increased electricity consumption, or the heat pump displays an error code, and then you call the installer.
I would keep an eye on the system myself and call a professional if necessary.

Stefan2.8417 Sep 2021 08:34Our offer is just under 175 euros net. The price increases by 2 percent annually. My main concern is the malfunction during winter. An emergency service would be included for that, available on weekends from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. 400 euros is quite steep. Does no one else have a maintenance contract, or has anyone deliberately chosen not to have one for some reason?

I’m still considering it. The heating system (Vaillant air-to-water heat pump) will be one year old in December. I wanted to monitor it myself first. If a malfunction occurs (after the warranty period), you’re going to have to pay anyway. Since I know the technician personally, I can call them outside regular appointments in case of an emergency. Everything else will become clearer in time.
