Hey,

a quick question where I’m having trouble picturing the solution:

On Monday, I arrived at the construction site and instead of the drywall installer, the carpentry team was there installing the roof soffit.

One side was already closed off, exactly the side where the recessed lights are supposed to be installed. My electrician was supposed to drill the openings and continue with the wiring. The house electrician had already run a cable up to the roof soffit. The recessed lights require a cutout of 60mm (2.4 inches), so pulling out the existing cable doesn’t seem problematic, but I can’t quite imagine how to route the cable to the other cutouts. Sure, just push it in, but eventually, there is the rafter (or beam?) of the roof, with battens attached on the sides and soffit slats underneath. In other words, the cable wouldn’t be able to pass through by simply pushing it forward. It would need to be threaded over or around the beam. But all this through a 60mm (2.4 inches) hole? Or is there a trick to do it without partially removing the battens? Of course, it would have been easier during the installation process when everything was still open…

The white marking in the picture is meant to represent the battens, which are used to level the height difference.

Thanks!

It seems that nothing else will remain but to remove one or two boards again.

Well, seriously. Of course, it’s not funny. But you’re working with long lengths, fiddling on a ladder, things don’t fit → frustration! This way, you have a bit of hassle, but it’s more comfortable and faster to finish. And with the next house, the same problem won’t happen again. Sorry, what can I say?
