ᐅ Is tile adhesive from the home improvement store recommended?

Hello everyone,

I need to buy tile adhesive soon and have come across significant price differences. The luxury option seems to be the PCI adhesive at around 35 EUR per 25 kg (55 lbs) bag, then there is the DIY store’s own brand (OBI) for about 20 EUR, and the CMI adhesive for 10 EUR.

Does anyone have experience with the adhesives from DIY stores? On the DIY store’s website, the cheap option surprisingly scores well with 47 reviews. Of course, one can debate whether all of these reviews are genuine, but the number of reviews for comparable own-brand products is rather unusual.

In my first apartment, I used the cheapest tile adhesive from the hardware store, and the tiles are still firmly stuck to the walls and floor.

The inexpensive flexible adhesives from the hardware store are rubbish (for walls). You’ll notice this when you have to stick tiles on walls. The cheap ones make the tiles slip and they can’t be positioned well.
On floors, I don’t notice much difference. However, the expensive adhesive feels better to work with.

I only used PCI products (for the walls).
