Hello,
I would like to know if anyone has experience with insulating the concrete slab.
I am currently in the planning phase and considering pouring the concrete slab on top of 100mm (4 inch) insulation.
Can anyone provide information, experiences, or tips?
Regards, Stoffelm

A friendly hello to the forum. So, do we also have a construction defect?
Single-family house with a bay window measuring 4 x 1.3 meters (13 x 5 feet). The house has a basement, but the bay window does not. The living room and the bay window are connected by a concrete slab. During the construction phase, the bay window extended over the workspace unsupported. Now, drainage has been installed under the bay window directly against the house wall. The bay window received a 13 cm (5 inch) perimeter insulation, just like the basement, and only sand was placed under the bay window slab. A frost protection strip, which would have related to the insulation, is now no longer planned. Are damages not inevitable in this case?

Hello Krolock
No, no cause for concern. Your bay window is supported structurally from the ceiling and does not rest on the ground, so there is no defect in your case. However, they should have at least properly fastened the insulation with anchors—gluing it under the horizontal floor slab would be too risky.

Thank you, Bauline,
for the quick response. That is somewhat reassuring. Only the insulation was glued and not mechanically fixed with screws. Should this be raised as a concern? It will probably come down to it not being ideal, but nobody wants to start digging it all out now either...
