ᐅ Installation of a satellite dish on the exterior wall of a house

Good morning everyone,

We are currently building a KFW70 house with a flat roof. Now I’m wondering how and where to install the satellite dish along with the LTE antenna. Since we already have flat roof collectors for the photovoltaic and solar thermal system as well as a chimney on the flat roof, mounting the satellite system on the roof is no longer feasible or would cast shadows on the collectors.

So, the only option left is to attach the satellite system to the exterior wall. Our masonry consists of lightweight hollow bricks from Lücking (Planziegel W8) with a thickness of 36.5cm (14 inches). Is it possible to fix the satellite dish to this? If so, what is the best way to mount it?

The alternative would be to bolt it to the reinforced concrete ring beam. The only issue I see here is how to properly install anchors and screws into the reinforced concrete.

Which solution would you prefer?

Buy proper cavity wall anchors and secure them additionally with adhesive (I can’t remember the name right now, but it’s a special glue that bonds quickly and holds firmly)?
We will also mount our satellite dish on the wall, but so far we haven’t given it much detailed thought.

Are you seriously wondering how to get anchors and screws into reinforced concrete?

Just drill and that’s it... the same goes for bricks: how else do you think you’re supposed to mount wall cabinets?

With an underground parking garage and all, this doesn’t sound like a cheap build – don’t you have an architect or even an electrician who can answer these questions for you?

Quite simple! Just buy a basic antenna bracket and secure it using standard wall plugs – done! However, it is important to follow the regulations concerning grounding and lightning protection for the antenna!
