Hello,
we are currently building a new house and need to specify the heights of the bathroom fixtures.
Toilet: 41cm (16 inches) from the top edge of the ceramic (without the seat) to the finished floor level (recommended by Geberit)
Washbasin: 90cm (35 inches) from the top edge of the basin to the finished floor level (recommended by Laufen)
Shower valve mixer: 110cm (43 inches); this results in a showerhead height of 210cm (83 inches)
Bathtub faucet: 20cm (8 inches) above the top edge of the bathtub
I am 183cm (6 feet) tall, and my wife is approximately 175cm (5 feet 9 inches).
I hope you can share your feedback and experience regarding these fixture heights.
Thank you.

I think we installed our toilets at 43cm (17 inches) height, with almost the same dimensions as you two.
The best approach is to measure how it is in your current apartment/house and decide whether that feels a bit too high or too low for you. I agree.
For our first house, we just loosely decided the toilet height based on the plumber’s advice during the walk-through. It was only slightly higher because we’re a bit taller. Just a few centimeters (inches), but in the end, I didn’t find it very comfortable.
For me, it would have been more comfortable if I could comfortably place my feet flat on the floor while sitting.

FrankChief19 Oct 2022 06:58In our current apartment, we have 39cm (15 inches).
That’s why it’s difficult for me to say whether 42 or 43cm (17 or 17 inches) is better, but I wouldn’t go higher than 43cm (17 inches), right?
The standard, I believe, is 42cm (17 inches).
Geberit’s recommendation is 41-42cm (16-17 inches).
The usual standard is 40cm (16 inches).

Especially for the sink, at 182cm (6 ft), the standard heights are far too low for me. You always have to lean forward while using it. Build a test setup for yourself.

Very good advice, that’s exactly what we did. We constructed the outer dimensions of the vanity unit from several boxes. That way, it was easy to test whether the height and size would work. We also made more mock-ups (washing machine, shoe cabinet, etc.) so you can really get a good idea of it.

FrankChief19 Oct 2022 11:08I think 90cm (35 inches) for the washbasin is fine.
Would you increase the toilet height to 43cm (17 inches)?

junijulibaut19 Oct 2022 13:37I just measured at work: 42 cm (16.5 inches). The height is fine for me (170 cm (5 ft 7 in)), but a bit higher wouldn’t hurt either.
The only way to know for sure is to measure yourself, always take a measuring tape to the bathroom, no matter where you are – at work, at a friend’s place.
