Hello,

our house (made of 24cm (9.5 inches) Poroton blocks) will soon receive a 12cm (5 inches) thick external thermal insulation composite system (ETICS). How thick should the insulation be at the window reveal? Is 2-3cm (1-1.2 inches) sufficient? Does anyone know a relevant DIN standard for this?

In this specific case, I recommend a flush-mounted exterior frame! Leave the EIFS (Exterior Insulation and Finish System) recessed by 6.25 cm (2.5 inches) all around and seal the windows from the outside with silicone! This ensures a tight, clean, and thermal-bridge-free installation!

This ensures a tight seal, a neat finish, and no thermal bridges!

What kind of construction is that, Wolf-style exterior rebate? I've never heard of it.

Wolfischen Außenanschlag

I have never heard of this either, and I am not aware of any standard regarding it. The search engines do not recognize this term either.

I haven’t heard of that either; it must be something from a small region. Here, everything is flush with the window, and there is no reveal or jamb.
