Hello everyone,

I wanted to start a focused discussion on the topic of “How to install Ikea Metod kitchen backsplashes without visible screws?” since this is an important issue for me right now.

My kitchen has the standard Metod base frame, and I have the glass backsplashes as well as the regular Ikea backsplashes. The goal is to attach the backsplash in a way that no screws are visible, as I prefer the look without screw heads.

Does anyone have experience with specific installation methods or alternative solutions? For example:
- Routing a groove in the backsplash?
- Using concealed clips that Ikea might not officially recommend?
- Special tapes or adhesives that hold permanently yet can be removed without residue?
- Or perhaps another fastening technique?

I would be very grateful for tips that are also compatible with the original Metod components.

Thank you very much!

I would simply attach the back panel with double-sided mounting tape.

Mounting tape can work temporarily, but there are often reports of issues with moisture and thermal expansion, especially in kitchens.

Has the back panel ever come loose after some time in your experience? I’m asking because I’m looking for a durable solution that remains stable even with temperature changes and slight humidity.

It would also be useful to know how to attach the back panel when the wall surface has minor irregularities, as too rigid an adhesive can cause stress.

From my own experience, I can say that really strong double-sided tape works great as long as you thoroughly clean the wall and apply the tape firmly in several spots.

It is important that the back panel and the wall are perfectly aligned. Otherwise, the back panel material may warp or come loose.

If this is not possible, it is better to use profiles or small concealed screws on the sides. Usually, they won’t be visible if you hide them at the edges.
