Hello everyone,

I am currently planning the installation of my new Ikea Metod kitchen units, where I want to integrate built-in appliances such as an oven, dishwasher, and microwave directly into the cabinets. My specific question is: How do I properly assemble Ikea Metod cabinets with built-in appliances so that the appliances are securely fixed, there are no ventilation issues, and the cabinet fronts are properly aligned?

I am aware that there are special requirements, for example regarding the partitioning system between appliances and adjacent cabinets, as well as the correct cutouts and positioning of panels and door fronts.

Is there a step-by-step guide or essential tips, especially for handling the heavy built-in appliances? I am particularly interested in how to avoid mistakes during installation that could later cause problems, such as when connecting the appliances or due to insufficient cabinet stability.

Thank you for your experience and advice!

I’m also curious: How do you handle heat generation in ovens when there are no ventilation slots on the back panel? Do you simply leave out the back panel, or does that not always work?

It’s great that you bring up this question. In my research, I found conflicting information about whether the entire back panel of the appliance cabinets should be removed or if ventilation slots are sufficient.

If the back panel is completely removed, the cabinet can lose stability, which might be problematic for securely mounting heavy appliances.

So far, my idea has been to equip the back panel with cut-out ventilation slots to ensure heat dissipation while maintaining stability.

I’m also wondering if I need to use special screws or mounting kits recommended by Ikea for securing the appliances within the cabinets, or if standard screws are sufficient and safe.
