Hello everyone,

I am planning to attach an Ikea Pax wardrobe to a concrete wall and would like to know the best and safest way to do this. Which anchors and screws do you recommend for this type of wall? Are there any special tips for the installation to ensure the wardrobe is securely and permanently fixed without coming loose? I intend to anchor the wardrobe mainly to standard concrete, not to aerated concrete blocks or similar, and I don’t have much experience with fixing to these kinds of walls.

Thank you very much in advance for your advice!

Also: How many fixing points should you use at a minimum for a 100cm (39 inch) wide PAX?

I would comfortably use four fixing points – better one screw too many than one too few. This way, the cabinet feels more secure and the material is protected. Good luck, and remember: always align carefully!

I don’t want to experiment because the cupboard will be heavily loaded.

Exactly, do it that way! I fixed mine with Fischer SX 8x40 wall plugs, 4 per side of the cupboard. Absolutely stable, even when I pack tons of clothes inside. I’m really satisfied! Good luck!

One more small tip: When pre-drilling the wall, it’s best to use a drill bit with a depth stop or mark the drilling depth with tape. This prevents drilling too deep, which reduces load-bearing capacity. It looks like you’re handling everything very carefully – great job! 👍

Great, thanks for these very practical tips, especially regarding the type of anchors and the number of fixing points! This definitely makes the procedure much clearer. I will get the 8 mm (5/16 inch) Fischer SX anchors, using four per cabinet frame, and make sure to use a depth stop when drilling. Once everything is set up, I will share my experience report. Thanks to you all!
