Hello everyone,

I am planning to attach an Ikea Pax wardrobe to a concrete wall and would like to know the best and safest way to do this. Which anchors and screws do you recommend for this type of wall? Are there any special tips for the installation to ensure the wardrobe is securely and permanently fixed without coming loose? I intend to anchor the wardrobe mainly to standard concrete, not to aerated concrete blocks or similar, and I don’t have much experience with fixing to these kinds of walls.

Thank you very much in advance for your advice!

For concrete walls, it is best to use heavy-duty anchors or expansion bolts. 8 mm (5/16 inch) anchors are usually ideal. Insert the screw into the drilled hole, then put in the anchor and tighten the screw. Important: use a hammer drill.

Drill the holes with an 8 mm (5/16 inch) masonry drill bit, then insert heavy-duty anchors. Ikea usually only provides standard anchors, which are not suitable for concrete. Use anchors at least 6 to 8 mm (1/4 to 5/16 inch) in size and matching screws. This will ensure a secure hold.

So, to attach the PAX to the solid concrete wall, I recommend using a strong heavy-duty anchor – avoid cheap ones, otherwise the cabinet will quickly hang crooked. 😉

Important: Apply firm pressure while drilling and use a hammer drill, otherwise you’ll just create a cloud of dust without a hole. Then firmly tap in the anchors, insert the screws, and tighten them carefully. 😊 This way everything will be rock solid and look truly professional.

First, drill the holes vertically, using 6-8mm (0.24-0.31 inch) wall plugs. Use screws with washers to distribute the load; otherwise, the plastic wall plugs may be damaged when tightening.

Guys, go all out! 😃 I fixed my PAX to the concrete wall using 8mm (5/16 inch) anchors and strong screws. Hammer drill plus impact drill, and it will hold for a lifetime! Just make sure the cabinet is hung straight and not just resting on a few points. It rocks! 💪
