Glue-down or Floating Parquet Installation – That’s the Question 🙂

Hello everyone!
I’m planning to install parquet flooring in our new house soon and would generally prefer the floating method since I have no prior experience and don’t feel confident about gluing it down. On the other hand, I want the best possible solution and am willing to invest considerable time and effort for it.

From my research, glued parquet offers better impact and airborne sound insulation. That is important to me, but there are also insulation options for floating parquet. If those aren’t sufficient, is the glued version definitely quieter?

Are there any other advantages of glued parquet? I’d like to hear some experiences. Thanks!

Impact sound insulation is not provided by the parquet flooring itself, but by the subfloor construction: screed with impact sound insulation beneath it.
Whether you glue the parquet or install it as a floating floor also depends on the type of parquet; some parquet types (e.g., strip parquet, vertical lamellae, block parquet) can only be glued.

Gluing is a method that requires some skill; if you feel more comfortable installing the parquet as a floating floor, look for parquet types suitable for floating installation—there is a sufficient selection available.
