Hello, our walls will be finished with a lime plaster. In the painter’s quote, there is a large item listed as "glass fleece wallpapering and painting." Should we have this done, or is painting alone enough? What has been your experience? Best regards, Steffi33

How large is this item? Our painter also offered to do it, but did not provide a price.

We applied lime-cement plaster directly and are very satisfied with the result. Regarding white paint in the stairwell with children, I think I would reconsider that now.

Almost 6000 euros for wallpaper adhesive and painting (for approx. 550 sqm (5920 sqft) of walls and ceilings). Painting only would be around 4 euros per sqm (0.37 per sqft).

We had it done with glass fleece and are satisfied with the result. I can’t really imagine having just the plaster alone. You can apply anything on top of the fleece later, such as repainting, wallpapering, etc. In our case, it is a smooth fleece with prior Q3-level smoothing.

The lime plaster still needs a second coat before painting. We used red lime plus stucco plaster. After that, you can paint directly. I’m not familiar with glass fleece, but I wouldn’t wallpaper over lime plaster.
