Hello everyone,

maybe one of you can help me, or has already gone through similar considerations.
We have two floor-to-ceiling windows on the upper floor that still need to be secured with a French balcony.
Preferably using safety glass.
The window reveal is quite narrow, so it’s not possible to attach anything there.

The railing installer suggested screwing an appropriate profile directly onto the window frame.
This is possible even with uPVC windows, as the frames have a steel core.

We really like the look,
but I have some concerns about sealing—both regarding moisture and thermal insulation.
After all, holes would be drilled into the frame...

Can anyone share their experience with this?
Has anyone solved it this way?
Any problems?

Thanks and best regards

We have already discussed this topic several times – unfortunately, it is hard to find using the search function – most recently here: https://www.hausbau-forum.de/threads/bodentiefe-fenster-im-og-ohne-bruestung.39473/

Thank you for the link.
But it mainly addresses the fundamental question of "Whether or not."

That question has already been settled for us.
There needs to be something before that.

My question was more about the system (installation directly on the frame).

I also wouldn’t know exactly what to search for...... "French balcony" unfortunately didn’t help me further.
