Hello everyone,

We were considering an in-wall installation for our shower.
For the overhead shower, we would like this one:
Hansgrohe Pulsify S overhead shower 260 2jet with wall connection. The installation manual says it must be connected to a Hansgrohe rough-in valve mounted inside the wall.

And for the hand shower, this one:
Hansgrohe Pulsify Select S shower set 3jet.

For the control, you now need something for 3 outlets. Unfortunately, with Hansgrohe, I only found the expensive RainSelect solutions, or you can install a 3-way valve to select the shower plus a separate thermostat. I don't find that very appealing.

With Grohe, however, I found something more appealing:
GROHE Grohtherm SmartControl thermostat pre-assembled set with 3 shut-off valves.
Of course, this must be installed with a Grohe rough-in valve.

Now my question is, can you connect the Hansgrohe overhead shower rough-in valve with the Grohe thermostat rough-in valve and therefore operate the Hansgrohe overhead and hand showers with the Grohe thermostat, or must everything come from the same manufacturer?

It would be great if someone knew something about this. I don’t fully understand it all. I thought they are basically just connected with a “normal” supply line, so it shouldn’t matter, right?!

Thanks & best regards

No, you can’t.

We just spoke with two professionals because our Hans Grohe concealed valve is clogged with limescale. It can only be combined with makeshift solutions.

Why should it be like this?
You need the appropriate base structure for both. You have already noticed that yourself. In between, only the piping is done. So, what speaks against it?

SumsumBiene probably wanted to install a different manufacturer’s insert into an existing base body / flush mount box.

Oh, so it actually is the way I imagined it, that would be great 🙂
