Hello,

for us, it is clear that we only want tiles in the kitchen, bathrooms, and utility room. For the other rooms, we would prefer a warmer type of flooring. We have planned underfloor heating.

Since we have a small but active dog, we are wondering how scratch-resistant vinyl or cork flooring is. Are there any experiences with dogs?

Thank you

Last week, we visited a building materials supplier (not a DIY store) and looked at the flooring options there. We quickly agreed on the design. The consultant recommended a bonded luxury vinyl plank from Haro that can be fully glued down — necessary for the kitchen area.

However, we still have concerns about the durability. The flooring is rated for use class 23/32, which suggests moderate usage. Alternatively, there is a vinyl option from ter Hürne with a 23/33 rating.

We actually prefer the luxury vinyl plank because it does not contain plasticizers.

Currently, we have ter Hürne parquet flooring in the living/dining room, and the areas under the chairs already show noticeable signs of wear as well as some scratches caused by the dog and child. Although this parquet also apparently has a use class of 23/32. Unfortunately, ter Hürne no longer offers that product, and I don’t know what type of wear layer it had.
