Hello,
for us, it is clear that we only want tiles in the kitchen, bathrooms, and utility room. For the other rooms, we would prefer a warmer type of flooring. We have planned underfloor heating.
Since we have a small but active dog, we are wondering how scratch-resistant vinyl or cork flooring is. Are there any experiences with dogs?
Thank you

Some friends of mine installed KlickKork flooring in their kitchen and have two cats.
...-> After one year, the cork looks completely scratched and just not nice anymore. I definitely wouldn’t recommend it.
I would simply ask for samples of the vinyl flooring and then test them by having the dog run over the samples several times a day :-)

Sebastian, I’m not sure if it was commercial vinyl; the brand was from Objektflor, Exponia Domestik.
For us, it was discouraging because any flaw was clearly visible against the light.
Well, even at our workplace where there is commercial vinyl, scratches are visible after 5 years.
Best regards, Tina

And the dog just walks over it without scratching the floor. If a dog digs wildly, it will definitely cause damage over time—but even tiles will eventually develop scratches in that case.

I can relate well with having two dogs 🙂. We had cork flooring, which scratched very easily. We also had lacquered (very expensive) hardwood parquet, which scratched just as much, and the lacquer finish made the scratches very noticeable. Now we have oiled solid wood parquet, which also scratches, but the scratches are less visible because of the matte surface. If we build again, only tiles would be an option for the dog area—everything else quickly loses its appearance.
Best regards
