Hello everyone,
Since the installation of my floor-to-ceiling windows five years ago, I have been struggling with significant drafts in the lower connection area, especially near the floor and corners. At first, the airflow was so strong that it could even be heard whistling. I constantly feel cold air around my feet, and in summer, insects/ants even get inside.
Measures taken by the company so far:
I would appreciate any feedback.

At first, the airflow was so strong that it could even be heard whistling. I constantly feel cold air around my feet, and in summer, insects/ants even get inside.
Measures taken by the company so far:
- Annual repairs (reglazing, additional seals)
- Drilling into the frame from mid-height and injecting sealing compound
- Applying a blue sealing compound in the corners
- The base sealing was applied over the anchoring brackets, not underneath or behind them
- Despite all measures, the sealing is still not permanently airtight
- How should the sealing in the base area be professionally executed?
- What measures are permanently effective if the sealing is applied over the brackets?
- Could the drilling in the frame or injected sealing compound have caused damage?
- Are there standardized methods or materials to permanently eliminate the drafts?
I would appreciate any feedback.

I hope the deadline isn’t accidentally the end of the statutory warranty period (5 years) according to the Building Code... if it is, be sure to consult a lawyer beforehand to avoid missing the deadline!
Why 1 to x(?) repairs should never be rejected by the client will be explained to you by your lawyer... so you haven’t done anything wrong here!
You don’t have a say in how the contractor (= window company) carries out the repairs... you can only refuse to accept the repaired windows if there are major defects afterwards... your lawyer should explain all this to you, hopefully someone you involved in time. Good morning,
No... it’s not the end of the statutory warranty. The windows have already been installed for 6 years as of January 🙂
But due to the annual repair attempts by the window installer, the warranty period is clearly extended. So in that regard, we are very relaxed.
Maybe it wasn’t naivety, but a healthy gut feeling that led us to just let them handle it...
The lawyer will be contacted today.

Damn... let’s hope the windows were legally and properly approved beforehand... that your lawyer knows the right leverage... and that the opposing party doesn’t have a good lawyer. At the beginning of this year, the window installer even hired the roofer to open up the external seal to check if anything might be wrong there. So... we are really very relaxed regarding the statute of limitations.
