mosquito00724 Feb 2024 18:11Hello,
we have a bungalow with a flat roof and a parapet. The parapet extends about 25cm (10 inches) from the house wall. Behind the parapet is a reinforced concrete ring beam.
We now want to install a new patio roof through the parapet, attaching it to the house side with bolts without additional supports. Of course, we have already planned supports at the front.
The situation is basically similar to a house wall with 25cm (10 inches) thick insulation, through which the patio roof would be fastened.
We have received two quotes. One of the offers follows the fastening method described above, while the second provider argues that this is not possible and that supports would also be needed on the wall side. In other words, a freestanding structure. Otherwise, it would be too unstable.
Do you have any experience with this?
Thank you in advance!
Hans

Hi,
I unfortunately have no experience.
It is clear that the leverage forces acting there are really immense. How large will the canopy be?
By the way, I understand that you would like to have the house side without supports. After some consideration, I decided to use supports on the house side anyway, because you can attach things to them without having to drill into the house wall.
