ᐅ Did you have RC2 windows installed?

Hello,

we are currently looking into the windows for our planned house. The police recommend installing RC2-rated windows for security, but these seem to be quite expensive. Have you installed such windows, and what additional costs should one expect for a window or patio door? For example, if only the patio door is made with RC2 security, will the glass panes look different compared to the other windows? How did you handle this?

Best regards
Sabine

I only use this as an improved motion detector for the workshop, so I’m alerted if I accidentally lock in the polish cat (neighbor’s tomcat) Due to their fur insulation, they aren’t always easily detected by standard IR motion sensors.

However, this type of sensor technology is outdated; nowadays, software can handle this much more intelligently with image recognition.

Personally, I find Arlo and similar products ridiculously overpriced, and I don’t want any cloud services in my house.

That’s exactly why I installed the camera.

I wouldn’t use something like that for real alarm systems, though—I’ve had long discussions about this with our security service (industrial).

If you dislike cloud services, that’s fine! But why overpriced? Arlo Pro with 4 cameras was on sale yesterday for €516 (about $561).

. Honestly, I’m not surprised nowadays. It’s probably reported, but nothing gets done.

Not necessarily. Last winter, two of my immediate neighbors were burglarized. We’re all good friends here and so forth.

We were having dinner. One neighbor was sitting on the terrace with his wife having a cigarette. Another was sweeping the driveway.

None of the four of us, spread out in different spots around the two houses, heard or saw anything.

The incident only came to light when one of the victims returned from grocery shopping. She had been gone for only about 30 minutes. During that time, two houses were broken into, including glass windows being smashed and shutters being ripped off.

This isn’t about the video or photo itself, but as soon as the camera’s motion sensors are triggered, you get a push notification plus the live feed directly on your smartphone. With a smartwatch on your wrist, this type of monitoring is unbeatable and relatively affordable.

Oh no. After the 5th, 10th, or 20th false alarm, you’ll swear at the system and turn those notifications off.
