Hello everyone,
I want to attach coping slabs on top of our walls (see pictures) and improve the overall appearance of the walls.
The standard coping slabs in gray/anthracite are easy to install but not very attractive visually. Does anyone have a nice alternative idea?
I would also like to plaster and paint the walls themselves. Has anyone had experience with this? Or are there other options as alternatives?
Thanks and best regards,
Stefan

If it is ensured that the wall will not be exposed to moisture from the back over time, I would apply a layer of plastic-reinforced filler, for example "gima xxl," and texture it with a notched trowel with 5mm (0.2 inch) teeth. Then apply a base coat plaster with reinforcing mesh on top. Finish by painting the whole surface with a suitable facade paint. You can then connect it directly to the house. This seems necessary, but if the wall does draw moisture from the back, the coating will eventually delaminate. In that case, the only solution is to install battens and cladding to ensure ventilation behind the facade.

"Wood belongs in the stove," said my colleague. It’s clear you’re surrounded by experts. Ultimately, it’s up to you which advice you choose to follow. Depending on your craftsmanship skills, it can be quite tricky to neatly finish the cladding on steps or transitions, as well as where it touches the ground or around the base of the fence. I’d be interested to see a photo after the connections are made, as well as the practical approach your professional suggests for executing these areas cleanly and attractively.Nida35a schrieb:
I immediately think of colored stone plaster,
available in various colors and easy to apply yourself straight from the bucket. It is also moisture-resistant as a base coat and holds up well against frost and strong sunlight. I have a similar project for a small base of a 20m (65.6 ft) wall. Colored stone plaster sounds like a great tip! Thanks 🙂
