Hello house building forum participants,
I am currently planning a complete attic conversion and am looking for clever, space-saving solutions to create storage areas. For example, in the kitchen there will be a pantry cabinet around the chimney, since no living space can be created there.
Furthermore, there could be options under the sloped ceilings (which would be usable from a height of 1 meter (3.3 feet)), but I am quite tall and would prefer not to have to crawl into corners for items I use regularly. In addition, no furniture can be placed in front of these areas.
Do you have any experience or solutions? I look forward to your advice. Thank you in advance.

Hello!
It depends on the users (children?) and how the space will be used. In the dressing area, clothes lifts can be helpful; in the kitchen, corner cabinets are useful. Often, people also make use of the space above the door frames, though that depends on personal preference.
Custom-made cabinets in the attic or gable area are nice but expensive.
What concerns me, however: Does your fireplace not give off any heat? Storing supplies at 40°C (104°F) is not ideal.
Best regards,
TomTom1

Hello HGD,
You can definitely create storage space under sloped ceilings without having to forgo placing furniture in front of it. It mainly depends on where the built-in wardrobes or cabinets can be accessed. Consider including sliding doors and take inspiration from kitchen cabinetry—there are many great solutions!
If you’re looking for additional storage space, also look upwards. Often, stairwells offer the possibility to install a cupboard at ceiling height that can then be accessed laterally from the room above.
Many people forget that not all storage space is the same. For example, I find it quite illogical how many don’t use the space under or within the bed frame at all, yet design elaborate storage solutions elsewhere...
I hope this helps you.
Best regards
