Hello everyone,
we have a central vacuum system from allaway at home, and overall I’m very satisfied with the system itself, but not so much with the manufacturer when it comes to the suction pipes and nozzles. I’m now looking for an alternative that I can attach to the existing vacuum hose.
Does anyone happen to know something about this? I don’t really want to call allaway and ask.

The suction pipe detached from the handle while vacuuming and simply fell onto the tiled floor, causing some plastic to break off. Also, the suction pipe no longer fits securely on the handle and keeps slipping off. The floor nozzle is already so worn after just six months that even when the floor brushes are extended, the metal part of the nozzle scrapes against the floor. This is very unpleasant to hear and also leaves marks on the floor.

Before I go ahead and buy something random, I wanted to check if anyone here has any knowledge about this. The vacuum hoses are sold simply by the meter, and the ends are usually just slipped onto the handle or screwed onto the inlet valve fitting (suction inlet).

Best regards

What are the diameters of the boxes or the connection pipes?

Hello,
the hose is a standard 32mm (1.26 inches) hose (corrugated on the outside, smooth on the inside).

At the end of the hose, the handle (to which the suction tube is attached) is simply twisted onto and secured on the spiral corrugation.

Basically, you need a floor nozzle with a suction tube and handle that can be slid or twisted onto the corrugated hose.

However, I mostly only find universal floor nozzles, but without the suction tube/handle needed to connect to the hose...

Small off-topic question out of curiosity: why would someone install something like this? What’s the advantage nowadays with vacuum cleaners and cordless vacuums?

1. No fine dust and no odors: The exhaust air is blown outside, so there is no fine dust inside the house (which is important because my wife has problems with it, something we never managed to control with our Vorwerk and Dyson vacuum cleaners). The same goes for odors; for example, if you vacuum up something with a strong smell (like spilled pepper), the smell won’t linger inside for a long time. Of course, if you use scented beads, it smells nice. =)

2. Ease of use and constant power: No more annoying vacuum cleaners that you have to drag behind you with effort, which bump into door frames and corners, might tip over, have cords that are too short requiring frequent unplugging and replugging, or need to be pushed back after reaching the corner of a room. No worries about the battery (assuming a cordless model) dying in a 180 m² (1,937 sq ft) house—which can take a long time to vacuum thoroughly, especially in the kids’ rooms—or about whether the previous user remembered to plug it in.

3. Bagless dust container: Large 12-liter (3.2 gallon) dust container that doesn’t need to be emptied as often as a standard vacuum. No need to buy bags; simply unlock the container, empty it into the garbage, and you’re done. The cartridge filter can be unscrewed and cleaned outside using compressed air.

4. Power: Strong suction and versatile use. You can plug the hose into the outlet in the garage and vacuum your car without needing a separate vacuum stored there or having to take the indoor vacuum outside. Especially for cars, you can never have enough power.

5. The device is mounted space-saving on the wall—no vacuum cleaner left standing awkwardly in a corner on the floor where it can get in the way and needs to be moved again.

Additionally, even our 1,000 euro Vorwerk vacuum wasn’t great in terms of the quality of the suction tube. Robot vacuums don’t work well in single-family homes (they can’t manage the stairs), and a hose is much easier to carry up the stairs than a traditional vacuum cleaner.

These are my positive experiences compared to the 20 years before with regular vacuum cleaners.

The parts are a relic from around the turn of the millennium and are nowadays almost impossible to find and, in my opinion, as useless as a third wheel.

We had them in our house about ten years ago as well, and we just found it awful to carry that long hose around.

Then you have those boxes in the walls everywhere and constantly have to keep plugging and unplugging the hose.
