ᐅ CAT cables in the utility room – not crimped?

Hello everyone,
some of you already have your houses partly finished. Our electrical supplier offered us the following:
All telephone, CAT, and antenna cables will not be installed inside conduits and are delivered without being terminated (at the distribution panel). All telephone and CAT cables end at the distribution panel.

The final electrical installation was apparently completed yesterday, and indeed, all the cables are at the distribution panel. But they are not terminated; they are just the bare wires.
We expected the cables to have connectors attached.
Are we mistaken, or should/can we request that the cables be properly terminated?

Good luck,

There is a difference between patching and further distribution to a router or switch.

I simply expect that when the electrician sells me a very expensive IP door intercom system, which apparently can fly and breathe fire, they also install it properly and make it fully functional. At the very least, it should be connected to a patch panel so it can be integrated into my network. Otherwise, I could have just ordered that whole crap online!

The electrician must be fed up too, having to discuss this kind of thing with what feels like 50% of the clients. So why doesn’t he offer it as a standard service?

The lamp is an end device and not comparable to this issue.

If there’s no mention of measurement or certification, he just connects the wire to the terminal and leaves.
If he had at least done it properly, I would have been satisfied. Instead, he made extra work for himself and caused additional problems for me.

In my opinion, a "LAN connection" also includes the terminated cable at the patch panel and outlet. How is the electrician supposed to test (measure) the cables otherwise? Raw cable ends only if explicitly agreed upon. But that is probably wishful thinking. The technical specifications for construction work do not have to be understood by the client.

That is why it is often stated that no measurement is performed or can be performed (due to the missing port at the end).

Then everything is fine. Connect the cable from the router to the first outlet, and then connect the necessary device to the appropriate outlet in the house. The electrician did it perfectly.
Or do you also need instructions on how to plug a power cable from the TV into the socket? It’s a very similar process.

Of course, I did that. I plugged the LAN cable into the receiver in the living room, and into all four unlabelled outlets in the utility room—nothing happens. So something doesn’t seem right there.
