ᐅ Should the conduit for the photovoltaic system be installed through the roof in advance?

Hello everyone,

Our house build includes a conduit for a photovoltaic system. We don’t know yet if or when we will actually install such a system. We just thought it can’t hurt to have it.

Would you have the conduit installed all the way through the roof now (since it’s included in the price), or only up to under the roof and then create the roof penetration later when the system is actually going to be installed?

Many thanks,
Oliver

Thank you for your answers. The roof type is a gable roof.

The attic is finished – including insulation. So it’s ready to use.

Our house contract only mentions a conduit for the photovoltaic system. My understanding is that this would include everything. That’s why I’m leaning towards having it fully installed now. Even if I had the roof tile installed now, I would still have to access the insulation later, which in my view would be unnecessary work. Logically, it shouldn’t be leaky – yes, there is a risk, but if done properly, that shouldn’t happen.

Best regards
Oliver
