Hello everyone,

I have a specific question that probably concerns many Pax wardrobe users: Are there any Ikea hack ideas to create more storage space inside Pax wardrobes that are truly practical and effective?

I’m especially interested in creative ways to use the existing interior space more efficiently without compromising stability or appearance. For example, I’m considering whether adding extra shelves, flexible drawer inserts, or clever partition systems could modularly increase storage capacity in the Pax. Suggestions for lesser-known modifications that are easy to implement but still provide noticeable extra storage would also be very welcome.

What are your experiences? Do you have tips or DIY hacks that have worked particularly well for you?

Thanks in advance!

My goal is to make better use of the space between the floor and the closet rod, since I mainly store folded clothes there that can be stacked upward, but ventilation and visibility are often lacking.

This is a very interesting and often underestimated topic. I recommend a multi-layered approach:

- Use stackable but breathable boxes or baskets. Boxes with perforated sides are ideal here, as they ensure proper ventilation.

- Between the closet rod and the floor, you can install an additional shelf that provides about 30–40 cm (12–16 inches) of height. You can then place the stackable boxes on this shelf.

- If space allows, you can also install a rail system on the back wall—for example, slotted strips where small hooks, baskets, or flexible storage solutions can be attached without getting stuck or compromising stability.

- When securing the additional interior fittings, be sure to use damage-free fasteners (e.g., screws only into existing pre-drilled holes or with suitable anchors) to avoid voiding the furniture warranty.

In summary: An additional shelf with appropriate storage boxes, combined with a flexible back wall organization, is a technically sound and practical solution that can also remain visually appealing.

How is the load capacity of the lower section in your case? Are you already using drawers or baskets there?
