Hello,

I am new to the forum. We are at the beginning and in the planning phase for a single-family house. We want to accept an offer where the house is pre-designed and the plot is already included. A small development with 21 houses is being built.

The developer is called "Allegro-Haus." Has anyone had any experience with this company?

What should you definitely pay attention to when signing the contract?

I am grateful for any good advice!

The argument is that a solar-assisted gas heating system can help save energy.

Whether solar-assisted water heating makes sense is a topic on its own... economically, it is often not worthwhile. It is often used in combination with gas heating to reduce primary energy demand in order to achieve a certain KfW classification (energy efficiency rating)...

When you take into account the costs for the solar system plus pump, electricity costs, financing costs, lifespan, etc., it is often more expensive than simply heating the water with gas...
and also to operate panel radiators.

A heat pump does not provide water temperatures high enough to operate a “conventional” radiator properly... Therefore, in new buildings, underfloor heating is now almost always used, which works with significantly lower water temperatures around ±35°C (±95°F).

So if you want to use panel radiators, it might make sense to use a gas heating system... but the question is, why do you want to use panel radiators???
Why a gas tank? I have to have an energy storage tank if I am not connected to the city grid. Sorry, could you please explain in simpler terms? What does modulation power level and cycling under partial load mean?

And that is exactly an important point... if you cannot connect to the city gas network, you need a tank... which costs money, takes up space, needs to be refilled regularly, etc. Furthermore, gas boilers running on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) do not seem to be as efficient as those using natural gas from the supply network… at least that is what I understand from €uro’s explanations...

To make a qualified decision about what is best for you, you need a proper heating load calculation... Then you can better estimate which option would be more expensive and which would possibly be more economically viable in the long term...

Thanks first of all for your input, I still need to think everything through again.

Hello, to all home builders, I have now decided on a ground source heat pump from Viessmann. Does anyone have experience with the Vitocal 333-G model, 7.7 kW (26,300 Btu/h) combined unit with a 170-liter (45-gallon) domestic hot water tank?

Hello Condor,

it's nice to hear that your planning is progressing. Our planning is also moving forward now... Have you received all the documents yet (site plan, subdivision proposal, scope of building work, draft purchase agreement)? Do you know the maximum allowed building area for your plot?

Best regards

Bratac

Hello Bratac,

We have withdrawn from Allegro; it was too uncertain for us. We are searching for something new again. Meanwhile, I am gathering information about various things in case it becomes serious once more.

What is the actual demand (power, energy) for heating and domestic hot water? Unfortunately, full modulation is not available with these units.
