Hi,
I need to install airtight doors for my unheated basement rooms.
I’m not sure which doors I need or how to install them properly.
Even after researching, I’m still unclear.
Can someone help me with this?

Hello, what exactly do you want to know? There are plenty of suppliers on the market for doors like these.

Can I just use a regular steel cellar door, or are there special airtight doors for that? I also looked at home improvement stores over the weekend, and there I only found climate doors, soundproof doors, and fire-rated doors for the cellar.

I installed a climate class 2 door with soundproof sealing between the basement and the granny flat. However, the washing machine can still be heard very faintly.

One thing you definitely must do is fully foam the door frame.

Hi,

We recently had our technical room door (accessible from the outside) installed. Since the technical room is part of the insulated building envelope, the door had to meet the same standards as an exterior door (airtightness, insulation, etc.) and have a

Since we specifically wanted the look of a classic steel door there, in the end only one model met the requirements: dw 62-1 “Teckentrup DF” iso+. The door has a drop seal and a very good U-value of 0.83 W/(m²·K) with a sheet metal thickness of 0.75 mm (0.03 inches). Considering the price, about 1400 euros, I think it’s more than reasonable compared to typical side entrance doors.

The installation was done using airtight foam (white) and additionally compressed sealing tape on the exterior side.
Last week we had the blower door test, and there were no defects with the door.

Maybe this helps you.
