Hello everyone,
Originally, we planned to have a prefabricated garage for our house. However, our plot doesn’t offer much space; we can only use the 3 meters (10 feet) on the left side of the house up to the neighboring property. On that side, there should also be a security door leading to the utility room. The ideal solution, in my view, would be a sort of garage extension that allows direct access from the utility room door into the garage.
Now my question: Is it that simple? Would you suggest a different solution? I appreciate any opinions.
Thank you in advance!
Marko

I’m joining in here because I have the same question as the original poster. So far, I haven’t been able to find anything suitable on the internet, and I would therefore appreciate any recommendation of a manufacturer you are familiar with.
Thank you very much in advance and best regards!

Markolino5 Feb 2013 15:03Hello Theo,
I have now received a pretty good offer from a manufacturer. They simply leave an opening for the utility room door. The prefabricated garage cannot be positioned directly against the house wall for structural reasons, but about 2cm (1 inch) away. This gap would then be sealed at the opening with expanding foam or other filling material.

Theo_Dolit6 Feb 2013 07:50Hello,
I asked for some advice and received it. Thanks to Bauexperte, a private message is on its way.
I thought that’s what this forum is for... perhaps I can be forgiven for posting twice... I promise to do better.
Best regards!

Otherwise, if everything is permitted, it comes down to personal preference: either you want a garage attached to the house because everyone has it and it avoids “dead space.” Or you leave some distance, but that gap should be at least 1.80 m (5 ft 11 in) wide so it creates a walkway that could possibly be covered and used as additional courtyard or garden space. It’s also practical to have direct access from the front to the garden or vice versa.
