Is a buffer tank generally a worthwhile investment for a heat pump? Or is it highly recommended or even essential?
Is a buffer tank in my case a worthwhile investment? Or is it highly recommended or even essential?
My configuration is:
170 sqm (1829 sq ft) heated area
Energy standard: nearly KfW-55
Ground source heat pump, 3-12 kW modulating
Optimal heat pump size according to calculation: 8 kW

then the hope would be that the buffer tank eases the situation. It would also be cheaper than a new heat pump.Since repair is now absolutely necessary, we should start with adjustment attempts, just as you described. The hope can then be Plan B – a new heat pump makes no sense after the repair.jens.knoedel schrieb:

Do you agree with the troubleshooting and adjustment optimization measures mentioned in my last comment? Or is there anything I might have overlooked?

Or is there anything I might have missed?Yes, check everything first and then work on the settings. And of course, compare with the settings of your neighbors. Also, tell us which heat pump it is. Some manufacturers offer such a huge range of options that it’s almost impossible for a layperson to understand what each setting actually does. I find it frustrating to get lost in menus and submenus.
Perhaps I missed the part where it absolutely has to be repaired. I’m not sure if it makes sense to invest so much money in a 7-year-old heat pump. Especially since it’s oversized and the water supply is probably insufficient. What will break next? Then you start worrying again. Also, it’s an “exotic” model whose manufacturer’s website, to put it mildly, wouldn’t inspire any confidence in me. And I still maintain: a proper heat pump requires a reliable factory service. Period.
Supply issues with heat pumps are currently a thing of the past. Stocks are full.

Delivery problems for heat pumps are a thing of the past. Warehouses are fully stocked. Thanks for the response!
What timeframe and costs would you expect for installing a new geothermal heat pump?
