ᐅ Are building plans reliable? When is the right time to terminate your rental lease?

I would like to ask you how long before moving into your new house you gave notice to terminate your previous rental apartment. At what stage of the building process or how much time before the move do you consider appropriate to be on the safe side? We have the usual(?) notice period of 3 months.
The reason for my question is probably clear: not to pay rent longer than necessary, but also to avoid having to stay in a hotel for (several) weeks and store furniture. We have recently moved to this area and therefore cannot stay temporarily with friends or relatives.

If someone wanted to be mean, which I am not, they could also act like a rental nomad by simply not moving out. By the time the landlord takes legal action, the new building would be finished.

Soft move: bringing a bit every day yourself. Boxes and dishes. That’s great, and I will do that. 🙂

You said you’re not from there, and I assumed you still live in your old area. But that was probably a misunderstanding on my part. I actually expressed myself unclearly. We have been living in the building region for about 18 months, but personal contacts are not close enough yet for me to ask about overnight accommodation.

For us, it’s just the supplier for the interior doors that’s holding things up. May I ask what is so important about the interior doors? It’s just my husband and me, so we could definitely do without interior doors for a certain time, maybe even with a child.
I can hardly wait to move into our house because then we’ll finally have a garden/nature around us again, but of course, it needs to be considered whether and to what extent that already counts as a final inspection (handover).

Yes, according to the purchase contract, the building contractor’s handover is at the end of September. But nowadays, you never know what might happen in between. At the moment they can’t install the stair railing because it’s currently not available. Our stairs and stair railing were also delayed by a few weeks.

Unless the next tenant takes care of the eviction personally and moves in immediately. That has reportedly happened before 😉

Warning, this is not legal advice and may contain traces of sarcasm. I’m too honest and compulsive for something like that. 🙂 I don’t even cross a red light at night in the village. ;-)

For us, it's just a matter of the supplier for the interior doors. Installing without the interior doors in place is actually better for the doors and frames.
There is no damage caused by construction workers or the moving company.
Installation after moving in is quick and clean.
