ᐅ Installation shaft and chimney flue combined in one?

Hello everyone,

We are planning to include a second bathroom on the upper floor, but underneath on the ground floor there is actually no bathroom or kitchen, meaning the plumbing shaft is essentially located in the middle of the living/dining area. However, we are planning to install a fireplace exactly there. Now the question is: Could we place the plumbing shaft directly next to the chimney flue? If this projection is somewhat wider, it shouldn’t affect the appearance much, since a kind of panoramic fireplace is planned in front of it anyway. I hope I have made my idea clear.

If that’s not possible, could the plumbing shaft perhaps be moved so that it doesn’t run through the living room but instead through the guest room? What is the maximum flexibility here, or does the shaft have to run directly down from the bathroom?

I find it a bit presumptuous to judge the users here who are answering your questions.

Even if @11ant sometimes gives unpleasant or complicated answers, it doesn’t mean he knows less than you. And if it is just a hobby for him, it seems to be more successful for him here than your new hobby of planning your house.

For heaven’s sake: It was by no means meant negatively or sarcastically, but rather positively: That with his long experience he is helping people here in the forum!

Go to an architect and come back with the architect’s plan to discuss it.
House planning can’t work if an amateur designs it and then tries to work out complicated details in a homeowners’ forum.

I will do that. From your point of view, is there still anything major to criticize about the latest floor plan?

Then you seem to have a similarly “green thumb” for this kind of comment as for house planning. In my opinion, the freshness of experience is even more valuable than the length of it.

Wasn’t that already addressed sufficiently? The proportions are quite unbalanced. In that case, the layout alone doesn’t help much.

I adjusted it again afterward.

What exactly do you mean by "adjusted" this time? Your method is called "Infinite Monkey," which may lead to experience but only occasionally to results by chance at best.

Do I understand correctly: If you’re investing such a large budget, you shouldn’t cut back on the architect?

Exactly.
If you spend 1.2 million just on the house, then it shouldn’t fail because of the last 40 or 50 thousand euros spent on a well-coordinated design.
We have about 270 m² (2,900 sq ft). Partial basement since there was no need for more basement space. It would also have been without a light well.
