No, not really.
It’s just that the original purpose and background of a house number are also being discussed, which certainly can’t hurt.

I used to work as a driver for a pizza delivery service. Back then, in autumn and winter, I often got frustrated because there were hardly any illuminated house numbers that were clearly visible from the street.

I don't think there are any regulations here. Before the last ambulance, I almost threw myself out of the way. It was racing down the hill so fast. They even missed the HVO vehicle.

It makes sense that a clearly visible house number is helpful.
Ours is made of black metal.
HVO comes directly from the town, so they don't need the number.

So, my house number is illuminated. On the wall, of course, it is backlit more effectively than it is here on the table:

In Bavaria, it is mandatory to install one. How it should be procured depends on the local municipalities and is specified in their regulations.
So once again, everyone is doing their own thing.
