Hello everyone,

a quick question for those of you who have already completed building your house. Was there a moment when you thought, "Oh no, what did we actually choose here? This doesn’t look at all like we imagined it would?"

We are currently having some doubts about the tiles in the hallway. Maybe that will change after the painter has finished and the furniture, especially the staircase, is in place.

How was it for you?

Best regards
Herr Stein

It doesn’t change the fact that this often happens even without the end customer’s knowledge.

Hmm... I have to admit that with us, everything inside looks quite dark from the outside through the window. Meaning: from the garden or patio, I can’t see at all what is inside.
And if the sofa had a striking pattern and color, I would just put a flower pot in front of it.

I know, I’m admitting that I’m not following the rule here… what this has to do with the topic: the builder installed this window instead of the half-height window at the same cost.
Here are two photos… because the ants on the lounge chair are annoying me right now.

With our lift-and-slide door, I can clearly see our dining table that stands about 1m (3 feet) from the glass inside.
Of course, it depends on the lighting outside and inside, naturally.
And at our neighbors’ place, I also see the window and whatever is in front of it very clearly, and when someone is sitting there, I sometimes wonder if I want to be seen like that. Well, whatever— we made our decision and will live with it for now until it becomes unbearable. Some people build new houses, we might renovate at some point, who knows.

@ypg Your splash guard looks pretty wide, how many cm (inches) is it?

It's 150cm (59 inches)... it also serves as a perimeter path around the house. Originally, I wanted 70 or 80cm (28 or 31 inches) – but the landscaper said: You have enough space. A wider strip looks more elegant, a narrow one appears cramped. Somehow, he was right. We mostly walk on the lawn anyway.

Oh, I think the nice black railing will get lost beforehand. It won’t stand out as much from the wall then.
