Hello everyone,

We have a plot of land (see site plan) and have started planning our dream house without an architect. Before we move forward in more detail, it would be great to receive opinions, ideas, and perspectives.

On the floor plan, you can see an electrical transformer to the east. It is quite tall and does not provide a pleasant view. Therefore, the utility room is planned here, separated from the house with access to the "breakfast terrace."

We are planning with the future in mind. This means we want all the essential living spaces on one level. Upstairs is for the children and grandchildren when they visit, as well as hobby rooms, an office, etc. The area above the living room is open. Downstairs, it is important for us to have separate areas. The kitchen/dining and living rooms should not be an open, connected space. We often have guests while others want to watch a movie in peace.

We welcome any extraordinary ideas. The house should be unique. But we also appreciate advice on realistic feasibility.

The house will be built as a timber frame house.

The building plan allows for few restrictions. The building envelope is shown on the drawing.

Thank you and best regards,
Andreas

I don’t agree with your request to delete your post along with @kaho674’s reply. The moderator could simply add a sentence explaining why this is not allowed.

I clearly see this as a case of data privacy violation and don’t understand why deleting it is so difficult. It is enough that the original poster did not want to disclose their place of residence and did not do so voluntarily.
On the other hand, my thread "Current Home Building – Trends and Innovations on the Market" was deleted without reason. Arbitrary actions might be one thing, but data privacy must be observed in Germany, and that also applies to Swiss users.

The data was available in the public profile.

Deleting entire threads, especially without providing any explanation, is certainly the wrong approach. I also believe deleting individual posts is not the right solution. The simple answer could have been: after the original poster expressed dissatisfaction about the publication and requested removal, the content in question and the quote, which the OP had unfortunately posted themselves, could have been overwritten with an "Edited by Moderator" note.

Yes, so the fuss is somewhat exaggerated. Nonetheless, there is a difference between having to find the exact building location through indirect means and it being directly searchable.

Yes, that’s why the commotion is somewhat exaggerated. Still, it makes a difference whether the exact building location has to be determined indirectly or can be found directly via a search.
No, the data was not in the profile. There were only approximate details, which a search engine cannot respond to.

And from now on we are dealing with data protection, correct. I request the forum operators to delete all my data. I am exercising my right to be forgotten online. All my personal data must be deleted and I demand confirmation by email.

Yes, I also regret having to take this step. It could have been an interesting discussion.

With the street from the development plan and the town from the profile, Google found something right away.
I also don’t think it’s appropriate to clearly name the town like that. If someone wants to find out, they should do the work themselves.

However, I find it unfortunate that other posts are not being addressed.
