Hello. We are building and installing the roof completely ourselves. A family roofer is supervising the work.
Now to the problem. The roof is not yet covered. We have been working for three Saturdays on installing the insulation and simultaneously finishing the roof from the outside. So far, Pavatex 80mm (3 inches) insulation boards are the only protection against rain on the roof. After heavy, continuous rain, we now have 3-4 spots where water is leaking in. It drips onto the insulation.
At two spots, we removed the insulation. There was no membrane underneath at those points. At one spot, we cut through the insulation and membrane. Our roofer says it’s not ideal but not a major issue. What do you think? What do you recommend? Do you have any tips regarding drying? The membrane sheets are taped together. The adhesive on the walls has not been applied yet, which means there is slightly more airflow behind the membrane than usual.

Why install mineral wool before the roof is in place...
I would suggest calling in someone who really knows about this, not your roofer. Mineral wool will never dry out properly; in the worst case, the entire roof frame could rot.
Even though it’s a lot of work, it’s best to remove everything and replace it, or at least open it up in several spots to inspect.
You should dispose of any wet mineral wool.

Why would you install masonry work before the roof is in place...Why would anyone do anything else with the roof besides covering it? Especially in mid-November.Similar topics
