In our case, the electrical outlets have always been loose and are now completely coming out of the wall. I opened one up and took a photo. Is this type of installation correct, or was it done poorly? The outlet hardly has any support like this. How can this be fixed or repaired?

Device screws for flush-mounted boxes might help here, which are used to secure the sockets inside the flush-mounted box. The mounting clips might miss their grip in this case.

Turn off the circuit breakers for the outlets and make sure no one turns them back on. Check that the outlets are indeed de-energized, but preferably not using a basic test pen from a hardware store.

Then I would fill the area with, for example, quick-setting cement until the tile and filler form a level surface. Once it has hardened, the outlets can be reattached, either by using the mounting clips or by securing them with screws into the mounting holes on the left and right sides of the switch box.

Alright, thanks everyone. I’ll first try the quick-setting cement to see if the anchors hold again, and then I’ll try using long screws...

Please do not try using claws. Use device screws of equal length.

There are plaster adjustment rings for this purpose. Available at hardware stores in different thicknesses, including mounting screws. This extends or raises the electrical switch box.
