Hello everyone,
I am currently considering the access system for our new build. I am thinking of a keyless system with PIN entry, fingerprint sensor, or something similar.
Which manufacturers should I look into more closely? What systems are you using?
The system is for access to the front door and the garage door. I would prefer not to carry a key, chip, or anything like that.
Security and burglary protection are, of course, very important. The sectional garage door must be able to be opened and closed remotely by radio from the car.
Thanks and best regards

I don’t understand the purpose of a video door intercom system costing 1000€ or more in a single-family home. For us, the main purpose is less about seeing who is there before opening the door, and more about knowing who rang the doorbell when we are not at home.
But yes, it can also be useful to recognize if, for example, members of certain groups are standing at the door (with no intention of offending anyone).

Well, the device can do a bit more as well. I’ve also planned a few additional functions using the camera for when I have some free time.
The extra cost for the camera was 360€ (about $390), which was still reasonable. What do I take away from this? For example, if the postal worker rang the bell, I can stop by on my way home and pick up the package. If a neighbor rang, I can visit them directly when I’m at home. If someone else rings, I can call them back immediately depending on who it is...
Especially with the postal worker, this has already been very useful since I know whether the person rang the bell or not. It’s particularly helpful when someone claims that nobody was home.

Lower risk of loss when using biometrics. If a token is lost, it can be deactivated instead of having to change locks. Time-controlled access permissions can be granted, and so on.
What the purpose of a video door intercom costing 1000€ or more is in a single-family home is beyond me. But we’ve had this discussion before. Apparently, there are people or areas where you can’t even trust your own driveway or locked door. Even when you are not at home, you can, for example, open the garden gate for the post carrier. Also, if you’ve been on vacation, you can see who has rung the bell. Not everyone can see who is at the door from a window.
We have a video door intercom and really like it for our property and access concept. For security reasons, however, the front door is not connected to the server—only the garden gate is.
All of this is also possible with an IP camera.
Photos are sent to the phone when the bell rings, or when someone is detected in front of the gate/door.
Doors and similar can be opened via relay modules connected to the camera.
So, I still don’t see any reason for a telecom system costing 1000 euros (or more) in a single-family home.
A doorbell button, relay module, door buzzer, and IP camera are all you need for a basic setup. (LAN and power supply should be available)
