Hello everyone,
the shell of the garage is finished, and the first two rows of bricks are protected against rising damp with a damp-proof course.
The garage is detached, and now I’m wondering if the slab needs to be sealed on the sides with bitumen as it is with the house. There will be no insulation here, nor is it necessary since the garage is neither heated nor part of the thermal envelope.
What do you think?
Thank you
Steffen

The garage is detached, and I wonder whether the slab here also needs to be sealed on the sides with bitumen, just like the house.I’m wondering why the entire slab wasn’t protected against rising damp from the start (before pouring). Is all that is in contact with the ground supposed to get damp?
