Hello everyone!

My partner and I have been planning our house for quite some time.
It will have approximately 170sqm (1,830 sq ft) of living space, a basement, and an open kitchen/dining/living area with a Swedish wood stove.
We also place great importance on optimal thermal insulation.
Is a pellet heating system sufficient to heat the house as well as provide hot water, or should the pellet heating be used only for space heating while solar collectors are installed on the roof for hot water?
The main living area (kitchen, dining, living room) will primarily be heated by the Swedish wood stove.
Looking forward to your opinions!

If money is not an issue, then why not?

The pellet stove is more than sufficient.
However, personally, I would not rely on pellets.

If you look at the price development of pellets, no thanks.
I would rather consider a heat pump, combined with a small photovoltaic system, for example.

For this, the standard heating load is calculated according to DIN 12831. In addition, the capacity required for domestic hot water production is determined. Afterwards, the energy demand and consumption are calculated. Once all the numbers are known, the complete system is designed. Whether a solar thermal system is included or not is uncertain. In some cases, it may be mandatory for KfW funding.

This is usually not accepted and, by the way, makes little sense as a permanent heat source if a wood stove = fireplace stove! Heating surfaces and pipework also need to be properly sized!

What exactly is the problem with pellets? Their prices are significantly lower than those for oil or gas—and have been for quite some time. Only in 2006 was there a brief shortage. Apart from that peak, prices have been remarkably stable. Production capacities are not fully utilized yet, so there is still plenty of potential for growth.
