new oak parquet flooring with a white lacquer finish was recently installed in my apartment. See the pictures.
Unfortunately, in my view, the parquet looks uneven, and I am concerned that low-quality material might have been used.
Question: Are the white edges, which appear on only a few of the floorboards, common?
These were not present in the samples from several flooring showrooms or in the manufacturer’s online images...
Thanks in advance for any experiences you can share!

Hello "wohnfreunde 16",
What you are seeing here is sapwood. During the factory application of pigments, these sapwood parts absorbed a higher amount of white pigments compared to the rest.
Usually, these elements are already sorted out at the factory and are not packaged. The term "inferior quality" is not used in professional jargon. Natural materials are never of inferior quality.
The party responsible here who has clearly "slept on the job" is the installer. The responsibility lies with them. At the latest, when the white spots became visible upon removing the pieces from the installation batch, these should have been sorted out and not used for installation.
If you installed the materials yourselves, meaning you are not a professional installation company, then the responsibility falls on you.
These are the industry standards: Anyone who installs must comply with the inspection and care duties regarding the subfloor and materials, which are also incumbent on professional installers.
The law makes no distinction between installations done professionally or by amateurs without professional knowledge!
If the elements were installed by a professional company:
Submit a written complaint and set a deadline for replacement.

Have a pleasant evening!

I just asked a carpenter friend, and he doesn’t consider it a defect, since every second corner has this kind of sapwood. If he were to always sort it out, he would have to account for all the material waste in the material costs.
So, in the end, it’s also somewhat a question of price.
