ᐅ Uneven parquet pattern – defect or not?

Hello everyone,
new oak parquet flooring with a white lacquer finish was recently installed in my apartment. See the pictures.

Unfortunately, in my view, the parquet looks uneven, and I am concerned that low-quality material might have been used.

Question: Are the white edges, which appear on only a few of the floorboards, common?

These were not present in the samples from several flooring showrooms or in the manufacturer’s online images...

Thanks in advance for any experiences you can share!

Did the professional company also supply the materials? Through your order?

Regards, Yvonne

Hello Yvonne,
yes, that’s correct, the materials were ordered by the professional company.
The split pin wasn’t visible in the showroom where the company sent me to choose the model. Let’s see what I can do now... Replacement is probably not so easy due to bonding.
Thanks to you all!

To me, this does not look like faulty installation. The parquet has some knot holes, so I assume it is a rustic grade. It is completely normal for sapwood to be included in this grade. This does not need to be sorted out unless requested and charged extra.

Try searching online for "rustic grade" or the grading of parquet flooring. You should find detailed descriptions of what is allowed and what is not.
